NoorLingo ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the NoorLingo mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Display name (during onboarding)
• Learning goal and experience level
• Apple ID email (only if you subscribe via Sign in with Apple)

Information collected automatically:

• Learning progress (words learned, lesson completions, quiz scores)
• Game performance data (scores, accuracy, time spent)
• Streak and XP data
• App usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics)
• Device type and iOS version (for compatibility)
• Crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics)

Information we do NOT collect:

• Location data
• Contacts
• Photos or camera access
• Microphone recordings
• Financial information (payments handled by Apple)

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and personalize your learning experience
• To sync your progress across your Apple devices via iCloud
• To track your streaks, XP, and vocabulary progress
• To display relevant advertisements (free tier only, via Google AdMob)
• To improve the App based on aggregated, anonymized usage data
• To diagnose technical issues and fix bugs

3. Data Storage & Sync

Your learning data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and automatically synced to your iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. This sync is handled entirely by Apple and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data directly.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob — for displaying advertisements to free-tier users. AdMob may collect device identifiers for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads in your device settings. Google Privacy Policy

• Firebase Crashlytics — for crash reporting and stability monitoring.
• Apple StoreKit — for subscription management. Payments are processed entirely by Apple.

5. Advertising

Free-tier users see advertisements powered by Google AdMob. We respect Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. We will request your permission before any tracking for ad personalization. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy > Tracking on your device. Premium subscribers see no advertisements.

6. Children's Privacy

NoorLingo is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Data Retention

Your learning data is retained as long as you use the App. If you delete the App, local data is removed. iCloud data can be managed through your Apple ID settings. If you request account deletion, we will delete all associated data within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data
• Opt out of personalized advertising
• Withdraw consent for data collection

Frequently Asked Questions

Is NoorLingo really free?

Yes! All 1,000 words, all 100 lessons, and all 12 games are completely free. The free tier includes occasional ads. Premium ($3.99/month) removes ads and adds advanced features.

How does the neuroscience approach work?

NoorLingo uses four research-backed techniques: Spaced Repetition (SM-2 algorithm) schedules reviews at optimal intervals; Active Recall tests you rather than just showing information; the 85% Rule adapts difficulty to maximize learning; and Contextual Encoding teaches every word with a real Quranic verse.

Does it work offline?

Yes! All vocabulary data and the Arabic text-to-speech engine work offline. You don't need an internet connection to study. Your progress syncs automatically when you reconnect.

How does progress sync work?

Your progress syncs automatically across all your Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac) via iCloud. No account creation required — it uses your Apple ID. When you get a new device, your progress is already there.

How do I restore my subscription on a new device?

Go to Settings in the App and tap "Restore Purchases." Your subscription is linked to your Apple ID and will be restored automatically.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > NoorLingo > Cancel Subscription. You'll retain Premium access until the end of your billing period.

What Quran text source do you use?

Our vocabulary database is compiled from the Quranic Arabic Corpus (corpus.quran.com), an open-source linguistic resource from the University of Leeds, licensed under GNU GPL. Verse examples use standard Uthmani Quran text.

I found an error in a translation or verse. How do I report it?

Please email us at support@noorlingo.app with the word, the error you found, and the correct information. We take accuracy very seriously and will review all reports promptly.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Settings > Reset All Progress to clear your local data. To delete iCloud data, go to iPhone Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > NoorLingo > Delete Data. You can also email privacy@noorlingo.app to request full data deletion.
